Vasc-Alert Decision Flowchart Recent Trauma/Hematoma to the Access Recent trauma or hematoma to the access may cause problems with needle placement. It can also cause access compression which may lead to elevated VAPR and AAPR results. Patients may have results above threshold because of recent trauma or hematoma to the access. It is important to monitor for upward trending in this instance, because narrowing of the vessel caused by compression can cause thrombosis. As the injury resolves results should return to levels below threshold. |
